Beyond the Sartorial: The Mind of a Pinup// Vintage Vandalizm -

A New York native, Jasmin has a gift for effortlessly layering eras, textures and shapes. What makes her presence so intoxicating over many fashion bloggers nowadays is that she lives and breathes this lifestyle. It’s not for show. She’s no phony. Period. That kind of passion for her craft beyond the #selfie is rare and refreshing. Simply put, She’s a fucking Force of Nature.

What can I say? Jasmin Rodriguez, a.k.a Vintage Vandalizm, is the whole package: intelligent, savvy, creative, joyful, gorgeous and a true original! Her style is beyond compare and her friendship is one I cherish. I have a tendency to fall off the face of the Earth for extended periods of time but, I can always count on Jasmin to have a “Hey Dollface!” and one of her winning *Smiles* to greet me when I crawl back to the planet.

Each look she weaves together has been expertly cultivated over years of her curating a style identity all her own.An identity that is fully reflective of her personal history and loves.

Take a close look and open your ears because I swear you can hear the clash of the Subway Train hovering above Queens, where she was raised, when she mixes Eighties trends with Forties silhouettes.

Her symphonic use of color is the product of a real life education she received from the juxtaposition of the MET’s masterpieces with the wild rise of Graffiti bombed on the streets she walked daily.

Oh yeah, and that confident stance? Pura Latina. With so few examples of  Latina Entrepreneurs succeeding long term, Jasmin’s consistent success is breaking the mold and giving Latinas representation in an industry notorious for its noninclusive nature but, don’t be fooled. She’s just getting started. We have only scratched the surface of this Force of Nature and her illustrious skill set.

I was able to catch up with Jasmin last week and frankly, I had no clue what to ask her. I knew she had a passion for lingerie and fashion but I also know she has so much more to say. Instead of using my standard interview format via phone, I decided to go with a Classic for my Classic Ladyfriend, The Proust Questionnaire.

Enjoy getting a sneak peak into the Mind of the a Pinup.
